Be gone, vain thoughts; Flee, wickedness, from my heart. Let no wicked word be found upon my lips; Let thoughts of purity and holiness dwell within my mind. May sin’s vile vice Be slain beneath Christ’s blood; Preserve, O Lord, my deceptive heart From every foe and all woe. O hateful voice of sin, be mute; Turn a deaf ear to Satan, the brute. God’s commandments are trodden underfoot, His righteous ways mocked by the broken heart. Sinful souls, held in Satan’s grip, Flee to Christ while time yet lasts; Have all your sins—present and past— Drowned in the ocean of grace so vast. Heed the Gospel call Of grace and mercy from above, When Christ upon the tree bled in love And gave His life—His soul, His all. Then let my heart, once led astray, Be steadfast, Lord, within Thy way; Let every breath and fleeting hour Declare Thy grace and sovereign power.
