O Spirit of wisdom,
Teach me the holy ways of God,
Of how it is in Thy kingdom;
Teach me Thy truth.

Here is wisdom vast and whole:
God’s holy writ for our soul.
Apply all Thy Word of life
To my heart for holy living.

Cause me to ponder anew
Thy holy Word;
Instruct me in Thy ways,
Mould and shape me like clay.

Teach me, too, completely
To depend and trust in Christ,
As a little child
Fully rests in his mother’s care.

Create in me a hunger
And thirst for truth,
A longing appetite for spiritual food,
A yearning desire for nourishment.

Cause me to delight
In the light of Thy Word;
Cause me to seek and search
For a closer union with Thee.
