The Return of the Lord Jesus Christ
The Lord Jesus Christ is coming again! This glorious truth is one of the greatest promises found in the Word of God and a blessed hope for every born-again believer.
The Scriptures reveal that the Second Advent of Christ involves two distinct events: the Rapture of the Church and the glorious return of Christ to the earth.
First, the Lord Jesus Christ will return to gather His Church unto Himself. The dead in Christ shall rise first, and those believers who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them to meet the Lord in the air (1 Thessalonians 4:13–18). This is the blessed hope of the Church, an event for which every Christian should be watching and waiting.
Following the Rapture, the world will experience a period of unprecedented tribulation and divine judgment. At the conclusion of this period, the Lord Jesus Christ will return visibly, personally, and gloriously to the earth, accompanied by His saints and the armies of heaven. He will defeat the Antichrist, deliver Israel from her enemies, and establish His promised Kingdom of righteousness and peace (Revelation 19:11–21; 20:1–6).
In this Bible study, we consider the prophetic Scriptures concerning the return of our Lord, the distinction between the Rapture and the Second Coming, and the importance of being spiritually prepared for His appearing.
The return of Christ is not merely a subject for theological discussion. It is a glorious certainty that should encourage believers to live holy, faithful, and expectant lives as we await our blessed hope.
