My Spiritual Birthday

On 20 September 2012, my life changed forever. That was the day I trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ as my Saviour. Today, I celebrate 14 years as a Christian, fourteen years of knowing the grace, mercy, faithfulness, and keeping power of God.
When I look back over these years, I am reminded that the Christian life is not a testimony to my faithfulness, but to His faithfulness. There have been seasons of joy and seasons of difficulty, times of growth and times when the Lord has had to correct and teach me. Yet through every season, Christ has remained the same.
The words of Scripture express it beautifully in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.”
Fourteen years ago, I began a journey that will not end with this earthly life. Salvation was not merely the beginning of a better life; it was the beginning of new life in Christ. I was brought from death to life, from condemnation to forgiveness, and into a relationship with God through His Son. I am especially thankful that my security rests not upon my ability to hold on to Christ, but upon His power to keep me.
John 10:27–28 says, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish.” As I mark fourteen years since 20 September 2012, my prayer is simple: that the years ahead, however many the Lord may give me, will be lived more faithfully for Him. I want to know Christ more deeply, understand His Word more fully, serve Him more diligently, and make His Gospel known more clearly.
I can look back with gratitude, look forward with hope, and look upward with confidence. Fourteen years saved. Fourteen years kept by grace. And all the glory belongs to God.
“He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 1:6
