The Bigger Picture

For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.

Romans 11:36

When trouble and hard times come what do you focus on? Do you give in to the temptation to look inwardly? Do you focus on the issue or do you look up to God? Do you cast your burdens on God? It is easy to focus our thoughts and attention on our problems in life. It is not so easy to surrender to God in these matters. We somehow have the mindset that we can figure out all our worries and concerns on our own. This prideful attitude is not the answer. You don’t always know the purpose of your hardships. You don’t always know how things are going to work out.

God knows the beginning from the end. He sees the bigger picture. Even when things seem to have no order, no conclusion, and all around us seem to be falling apart, God is still in control. We might not know it or feel it at times, but God is in control and has a plan and purpose for all things in life. It is easy to trust God when things are good and all is well with us. It is not so easy to trust when bad times and hardships come our way. However, it is those times when we need God the most. It is those times that God is at work in us the most. We need to learn to trust God, even in the mess of life.

In confusing times and in all times God’s divine plan is in action for His glory and honour. May we trust in God, who knows all things and sees all things. May we be reminded daily that His purposes and plan for ourselves are at times beyond our understanding. May we walk by faith in the Saviour and not by sight.

Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. A prayer of a righteous person, when it is brought about, can accomplish much.
